Stuff you should know

You've never actually SEEN a dragon?
How sad. Pay attention and you will.

Remember those old maps?
On the very edge of land, where uncharted waters began, there was a legend that said
“Here there be dragons.“

Well, they are HERE TOO!

WARNING !!!! WARNING!!! WARNING!!!

It is important to warn you that messing around with dragons, even though they do have very good senses of humor, they can prove to be a bit unnerving, as dragons know humans taste wonderful when served with catsup.

So, properly warned, let's begin.

Dragons are everywhere, in the physical, mental and emotional planes. And they love being a very important part of their chosen humans lives.

It is essential to learn all about these archetypes so that when you see them you'll be able to greet them properly and invite them to stay with you.

Young dragons are called dragonets or hatchlings and must feed almost constantly. Their diet includes large rocks, melted into a flammable liquid by their highly corrosive stomach acid, which, when snorted out of the dragons nostrils, ignites, and enables them to breathe fire.

The hatchlings work long and hard at this great talent and usually have it perfected by the time they are two years old.

They delight in sneaking up behind their elders and demonstrating this feat, which can often result in stern discipline, and loss of flight privileges for several days.

At a year old, they have reached seventy percent of their adult size and have learned to fly, a skill that is not easily learned. as many small dragons experience air sickness and a few tend to be acrophobic,
at first. But fly they do.

Seeing dragons is as easy as ging into a meditative state and looking. And looking. They are out there, on the Astral Plane, doing their dragon thing, waiting for you to get around to visiting.

After awhile, you'll see them on this earth plane too. The hatchlings love perching atop computers and frequently cloud monitor screens with their breath.

FINDING PERSONAL DRAGONS

Get comfortable. Close your eyes. Go into a meditative trance state. Use whatever method of meditation you find suitable, start looking.

You've all seen pictures of dragons (why else are you looking at this site?) and it should be fairly easy to visualize these creatures. You may find they will appear, reappear and have a fine time making you doubt your sanity, but with time and practice, you WILL MEET YOUR DRAGON. Huzzah!!!

DRAGON CLASSIFICATIONS

Dragons have been divided into these four main sub-classifications, especially for humans who tend to need guidance, and really love having ALL THE FACTS!

LINDWORM
This classification is wingless but has feet. They cannot fly, but are very adept at breathing flame. The flow of energies radiating from the Lindworm is slow and direct. It just keeps coming and there's nothing you can do to stop it. Scares the bejeebers out of those who would do you harm.

AMPITERE
This classification is footless and winged. Their wingspan allows them to stay aloft constantly and they are always flying around, out there on the Astral plane looking over you.

The flow of energies from Ampeiteres has a looping effect, which pulses forward, increasing in strength with each loop. Great for guarding Frakencence trees, which is but one of their duties.

WYVERN
This classification is both winged and footed and probably the most commonly represented Dragon portrayed by artists. They both fly and run and could win a horse race without even getting winded.

The Wyvern's energies dart from place to place, once here and then there. Another wonderful protection when someone is trying to get into your psychic space.

GUIVERE

This classification is footless, wingless, but has fins. (Think Nessie! She's just a very old Dragon who inhabits Loch Ness in Scotland and every so often is sighted by someone. She loves publicity!)

The Guivre's energies are slow and flowing. It just glides in and hits, before one realizes they've been spotted by the Dragon.

NOTE: Dragons often breed with other classifications, and you my find yourself with variations of all sorts of combinations of wings, feet, tails and other dragon characteristics. It just makes Dragon Lore all that fascinating.

SCIENTIFIC STUDIES

Scientists of the carbon based persuasion have attempted to reconstruct dragon bones and have brought forth many theories about them.

(See “Dragons“ on the Discovery Channel. Despite years in the making, the developers of this series didn’t get it quite right!)

The dragons are still laughing.

You may be one of the lucky ones who has several personal dragons, whether it's because they love you so much, or that the Elders of Dragondom have decided that you Really Need Watching.
I have several, myself. And yes, it’s because I Really Need Watching.

And you may have one of each, or at least a couple from different classifications and this is a truly wonderful thing, as each Dragon will play his/her special part in your life.

DRAGON NAMES

Shhhh!
Listen closely. Each dragon has a very special name, or several AKA's given to them as they develop their dragon personas. Listen again, and then listen some more.

When your dragon gets comfortable with you, he/she will whisper that special name. (They already know yours!)

GUARDIANS/HATCHLINGS

The guardians range in size from the size of a dragonfly or sometimes smaller to the size of small dogs. And to keep you constantly surprised, they love to shapeshift into all sorts of creatures, sizes and hues. Be careful where you step, lest a small tail find itself under your foot.

They take it all very seriously, and you must too, as an angry dragon is not, let me assure you, a pleasant spirit to behold. (Remember, they do breath fire and direct the flames at you if taken lightly.)

SCALE OF THE DRAGON DEFENSE

When you feel threatened, pull hand sized dragon scales up from you feet, all around your body, over your head. Envision them as mirror finished, facing outward toward your antagonist, and the threat will simply be mirrored right back at who or whatever is threatening you. And both you and your dragon can have a great laugh at the cause of all this concern.

PROPER DRAGON BEHAVIOR

Being very elusive creatures, as well as being way too polite to intrude, dragons come only when summoned, or in the event that someone or something is threatening the mortals in their care.

And since fully grown dragons range in size from that of a present day horse, to that a medium-sized house, or even larger, (remember they shape -shift at will) the sudden appearance of a flame breathing Dragon is one no menacing force will ever quite get over.

ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

Knowing as much as you possibly can about these archetypes, helps in locating and understanding the dragons you'll meet.

Type in the keyword "dragon" and your computer will go crazy telling you everything it has gleaned on these fascinating creatures.

They inhabit every part of this and surely other Galaxies and no telling where they will turn up next. After all, we're talking about DRAGONS.
